Meet the Counselor

Bethany Steele, LPC

I am a proud School Counselor employed across the K-12 spectrum for over a decade. I also hold a substance abuse certification. This experience allows me to work with a variety of individuals at various developmental stages for a broad range of issues. I specialize in counseling young adults (transitioning onto college, careers marriage/parenthood), adolescents navigating teenage terrain, as well as youngsters with issues of defiance, various learning disabilities or changing home dynamics. I pride myself on ensuring an authentic, genuine and nonjudgemental relationship. If at any point you feel your needs are not met I will undoubtedly aide you in finding another practitioner that would better suite your style.

More about me: I am a Jersey girl through and through having completed my Bachelor's at Rowan University and graduate coursework at Monmouth University. Growing up I took to babysitting at a very young age, seeming to have a natural knack for calming babies and putting them at ease. Growing up with two parents in education, I knew I wanted to work with children though teaching was definitely not for me. Within the field of counseling I found the opportunity to blend these two preferences. I would also be remissed if I didn't give accolades to my own school counselors who helped me through my own hardships. Somehow always ending up in their offices for guidance allows me to recognize what a privilege and responsibility it is to have young people establish a positive relationship with counseling/therapy so that they can continue to see its efficacy and get help whenever needed over the course of their lifetime.

I am a proud "Boy Mom" of two little babes. Being in the throes of early parenthood motivated me to not only seek help for myself when struggling with postpartum depression and anxiety but to also recognize my passion for helping other women. I continuously work on expanding "my tribe" and prioritize training in this area.  I truly love working with women in the early stages of pregnancy through the first year postpartum period. When I am not in session and caring for the littles I enjoy reading, working out and FOOD! I love a good beach read, dock and dine, as well as a glass of wine with girlfriends. These are the things that help me stay balanced and show up for my sessions.
